AUCKLAND THINGS TO DO
ACTIVITIES & ATTRACTIONS | FAMILY TRAVEL
Chifley Suites Apartment Hotel is located in the vibrant center of Auckland - amongst the CBD, close to visitor activities and things to do, most major events plus a wide range of restaurants and dining. New Zealand’s largest city sprawls across the Hauraki Gulf with plenty to do both on and off the water.
From theatre, art and culture, to shopping, dining, sports events and concerts, not to mention a buzzing nightlife, Auckland is a world-class city blessed with a magnificent harbour and surrounding beaches.
The islands in the gulf make great day trips by ferry within minutes from downtown Auckland. Visit the vineyards on Waiheke Island or kayak to Rangitoto and hike to the top for spectacular city views. The velvet black sands of Piha are where you’ll find the best surf and the white sands of the eastern beaches and Auckland’s North Shore are perfect for water sports and picnics.
During summer Auckland is alive with free events ranging from concerts and movies in parks to weekly farmers markets for fresh produce from the farm to your table.
Vector Arena is located about a 20-minute walk from Chifley Suites and hosts concerts and sports events.
For shopping within a short stroll from the hotel, head to Queen Street, then explore the alleys and side roads of Vulcan Lane, High Street and Chancery. Auckland’s flagship department store, Smith and Caughey, is on Queen Street — a few minutes' walk away, or take the Link bus to Ponsonby Road, Newmarket or Parnell for more shopping and cafes.
Just two blocks away is Sky City — New Zealand’s largest casino and chock full of restaurants, bars and other entertainment. You can head up the Sky Tower — one of the tallest buildings in the Southern Hemisphere, for spectacular views or adventures including bungy jumping and the ‘Sky Walk’.
Chifley Suites' three partner properties are also located in Auckland. The Chatham Auckland is a boutique luxury apartment hotel on the fringe of the Auckland CBD, near famous K' Road. City Travellers, near the waterfront, offers budget accommodation close to the Auckland CBD, and 540 in South Auckland is a convenient Auckland Airport motel, with golf courses nearby.
